Boys' Sports Afternoon
A lovely sunny morning reminds me that this Sunday is the Boys Games and Sports afternoon; hopefully this year the weather will allow us to go ahead!.
This is a fun afternoon which we put on for our Choristers as a thank-you to them for all their work during the year.
We have still only received just over a third of the expected replies! It may be of course that your son is not too keen on sports afternoons (if this is the case, no problem!).......this note is just to jog memories in case the original has been mislaid (or is still in a pocket!) - we don't want any boy to miss out.
I am attaching a copy of the original letter. As we need to place the boys into age groups, if your son wishes to take part, please return the slip, or details, via e mail before 4.00 pm tomorrow (Wed) or alternatively ask your son to hand the slip to me when he arrives at practice. Car Treasure Hunt
We couldn't have had a better evening for this little trip which took us to the top of Jeffrey Hill (some wonderful views here in the evening sunshine to the Trough and out to the coast) and then on to Chipping where cars were abandoned for some investigation on foot. The Derby Arms at Thornley turned out to be our destination, and very pleasant it was too!
My thanks to this year's planners, Steve and Sue Keens and Peter and Gill Nicholson for organising this thoroughly enjoyable mid-summer event.
Congratulations to the winners in the Harvey car, but well done also to several younger Choristers who not only were made responsible by their parents for writing up the answers, but also, so the organisers informed me, did rather better than the adults on the mathematical questions!

... and don't forget the next adult event - The Bowls Evening on Tuesday 6th July.

Open to Parents, Choir Adults and Choir Groupies, this is always a very pleasant evening. You should have received the letter; if not, let me know - the closing date for applications is Sunday 4th July.

Isle of Man Evensong Sunday 4th July
Don't forget the new date for this event, when as on the Island, boys will read the Lessons and lead the Prayers. Mrs Jean Miller will be presenting the Ellan
Trophy at the Service, and afterwards there will be a chance to see the DVD of this year's trip. A good opportunity for boys and their parents who have not yet been on tour, to see what goes on on these very special weeks.
The full colour Souvenir Booklet, containing plenty of photos and information about the tour, will be on sale after the Service price £2.50. It is looking splendid; I suspect the Tourist Board might be interested in using it to promote holidays on the Island next year! My thanks to Mr David Wilson who has spent many hours working on this publication. More

Confirmation Service

Confirmation Day 2010

Above: Eight of our choristers were confirmed in June 2010

Finally, may I pass on to you the thanks of an Adult Confirmation Candidate for the splendid singing of the Choir at this Service. This was a very special occasion for all the Candidates, but not least for our nine Chorister Confirmees, all of whom, I know, appreciated the support of their colleagues.

Yours sincerely
John Catterall
